Great question. Why?
Speaking for myself, I didn't intend to activate Kundalini. I didn't even know about Kundalini until I activated it. Back in '72 when I started meditating (using GFM), my goal was to improve my breathing. I understood there was a relationship between meditation and breathing; I did not know there was a relationship with Kundalini. Even though a stranger had given me a copy of The Secret of the Golden Flower, even after reading the book many times, I did not understand that my practice might induce a Kundalini awakening. Nevertheless, for all the reasons enumerated in Deciphering the Golden Flower One Secret at a Time, I'm glad it turned out this way.
Practitioners I have corresponded with — those who have either activated Kundalini or are working on it — offer reasons that vary from skimpy to profound. But who am I to judge? Especially since I began this work with no knowledge of Kundalini and little understanding of the power of GFM. Now, after living with Kundalini for almost forty years, I understand the process a little better and I realize that I cannot begin to grasp individual motives for wanting to undertake this work. I can only wish all Kundalini pioneers Godspeed! and hope that their experiences turn out as successfully as mine did.
